Who I Am

A Newfoundland once removed, but redeemed through marriage with an eternal draw to the Atlantic Ocean, despite its harshness and the many days of rain, drizzle and fog or RDF as we commonly call it.  Sporadic sunshine and days hunkered within my abode on the edge of a cliff, typing, teaching, drinking copious amounts of coffee.
My dream is to have a garden that will grow despite my attempts to nurture it, children who are wise and kind despite my attempts to make them so, a husband who brings me flowers without me saying, ‘bring me flowers’.  These are some of my more lofty goals.  Coffee, an actual best friend, a dog who loves to warm my feet, and stacks of delicious novels to devour in front of a roaring fireplace with the sound of freezing rain pelting our very safe windows.  Days spent combing the pebbly beaches in hopes of treasure, hours spent watching lazy icebergs drift and melt in the summer rays, catching a whales blow or tail flip-off with my camera, this is how I long to spend my days, not here in suburbia, but hanging off a craggy old cliff in tiny town twillingate.
